Update – Recovery 4 – Not Yet
Status
Beth has not yet been transferred because we are waiting for authorization from the insurance company.
The hospital was not giving her the proper frequency of her thyroid medication, but we got that straightened out and the proper strength and frequency is in the system now.
Good News
The case manager with United Health Care/Safe Trip Insurance (travel insurance) called me to report that SafeTrip will cover the cost of getting her home when she is deemed medically ready, Also, it is likely they will have a medical person fly with her. That news is a huge relief.
There are no deadlines or expiration dates on this SafeTrip coverage. The timing of the transfers is entirely dependent on Beth’s medical progress.
Overcoming Boredom
You may have noticed that Beth is answering some of the comments on the blog and on Facebook. She appreciates the comments and responding is a welcome diversion. She’s tired of playing solitaire. The TV isn’t very interesting. The Kindle is good, but recovery is just boring
That’s the up-to-the-minute news.
I think that is a great relief about her trip home. I myself was wondering what you were going to do. Yep, it’s not fun being locked up and then there is the food. You guys eat very healthy. Hang there. Sounds like progress!
It’s progress! If I mail you anything that will help entertain you please let me know. Male stripper? Lol jk
Keep healing girl, once you get home, we plan to shower you with anything you need to fully recover. The “hood” is anxiously waiting!
Thanks, Susan. We’ll definitely need a helping hand when we get home. Fortunately, we have a pull-out sofa in the living room. I don’t think I’ll be upstairs for many weeks
Not much happening today, so maybe the male stripper could be a welcome diversion from the boredom!
Good afternoon! Sure glad you got the trip insurance! Now to get Blue Cross going. I’m sure the hospital wants to get paid so they are working for you too. Hang in there! I think you need to download some new games besides solitaire. Have you tried Wordle? I love Mahjong where you match tiles and can change the tile sets. The jigsaw puzzles are fun too. Hope your day zips by! Love, Clara
Clara, every morning I do Wordle, Quordle, and World-le. It’s the way I start my day. Also keeps the brain cells moving.
Hey Beth…
Tim has been doing a great job of keeping your “army” updated. I appreciate it, and I know others do as well.
I hope you’re starting to feel a bit better… I know the ribs can take a while, but our bodies are amazingly resilient!!
You’ll be up and at ’em before you know it!! We’re all thinking about you here at home!
All the Best,
Lloyd & your RMS family
There might be another option for getting her home if you want to know? There are medical transports that will take her from there to Florida and you can go with them! Let me know if you want more information?
Our travel trip insurance has some good options, and they will send a medical aid with me on a commercial flight when I am stable.
So glad that Beth is on the road to recovery. I hope it continues. Beth, you are in my prayers and those of the prayer team as I told them immediately what happened. They are probably all following this blog. Work hard in rehab. It will fill lots of your time.
Yep. First rehab this morning, OT and PT. Wore me out for the rest of the day.
Joke told by David Letterman on his latest Netflix series. “There is an old saying that laughter is the best medicine. Unless you have broken ribs”. That could make you smile Beth, or feel worse …
Ahh, Jane! Interestingly, it’s not the light laughing that bothers me. It’s the dreaded cough or sneeze that worries me the most!
