Update – Recovery 6 – Rest Day
Today is a rest day; Beth has no therapy sessions scheduled today.
The next important milestone happens on Tuesday. That’s when the doctors will meet to assess her progress and determine the next steps.
Yesterday Beth had me buy her a couple of pairs of shorts with an elastic waistband. I got two sizes. This morning an aide helped her try on both pairs and she picked the one that worked better. I took the other pair back to Walmart and exchanged it for the size she likes. Except for meals and bathroom breaks, trying on the shorts is the extent of her OT for today.
Last night I went to dinner at The Burger Dive in downtown Billings. Beth and I ate there when we stayed with Cindy and Brentlie last year.
They do a booming business.
Their burgers are very juicy and flavorful – very similar to the burgers at the Moonshine Store in Illinois. They have their hamburger prepared by a local butcher to their specifications. It’s a very small place and they want to move to a larger space, but before doing that, they decided to extend their hours to serve dinner and see if they could generate enough business to justify moving. Last year at dinner time they weren’t too busy. Last night they had people waiting in line to be seated. It looks like they will be able to expand successfully. Plan to stop here for lunch or dinner the next time you roll through Billings.
As always great updates! Moonshine burgers are hard to beat! I will have to try this place next time through! Prayers for good news on Tuesday
Thanks for the update Tim. Sounds like you had a real “night on the town”! 😉
It’s the little things that will make this recovery easier and more successful for Beth as time goes on. Just a comfy/easy to wear pair of shorts is one of those things ya just don’t think about until a time like this. Hope she enjoys her day off and sending best wishes for good news on Tuesday after the medical eval.
Yes, Spanky, it’s the little things that mean a lot.
so glad you’re having a rest day to chill before more work Mon/Tues. Fingers crossed for positive outlook on Tuesday!
We have been reading your blog and the turn of events. We are here in Florida all summer and fall if you need a helping hand. Thinking of you guys! Darlene and Keith
Wife just had a hip replacement, know the drill, no zippers or anything metallic or they have to come off for x-ray. Modern medicine is great, 4 hours after surgery they have you up walking.
