Shark Week XVI
Tuesday
We went to lunch with our friends, Jeff and Joyce. Beth and Jeff were high school classmates, and the four of us attended the same church during the 20 years we lived in Pittsburgh.
Late afternoon we rode over to the Chapungu Sculpture Garden at Centerra. The garden features over 80 stone sculptures portraying a traditional African perspective of family.

Two of our Road Glide group members, Ray and Kim, got married in the garden.
Elvis officiated.

Rings…

The wedding party.

Tuesday evening was the welcome meeting and presentations for Shark Week XVIII in 2028. Presenters pitched Springfield, MO, Athens, OH, and Dubuque, IA. We’ll learn the results of the vote at Thursday’s banquet.
Wednesday
The day started out overcast and chilly – 52 degrees. The group assembled their bikes for a group photo. They were arranged to form the shape of the US in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Notice they parked the trikes in Florida. Beth’s trike was positioned right in Tampa-St Petersburg.

We rode to lunch at Mile-High Harley in Parker. This was the third time in 6 days we’d been to this dealership, so Beth thought it would be a good idea to buy a T-Shirt. She found one marked down from $45 to $29.

The raffle was held in the evening. The money raised by the raffle covers the cost of the conference facilities (we have no registration fee) and a donation to the designated charity. This year’s charity recipient is Respite Care. Over the last 16 years, Shark Week has donated $100,000 to charities.

Beth won a plaque.

Thursday
We just hung out at the hotel until the banquet in the evening. I didn’t take any pictures, but you can imagine the tables in the raffle picture set for dinner. We had a choice of chicken or beef.
They announced that Shark Week XVIII will be in Springfield, MO in 2028.
Tomorrow, we visit friends, Dave and Jan. Dave and I met in 6th grade.
