Post-Convention Touring
Friday
We packed up our stuff after breakfast and headed north to Orillia, ON. Beth’s grandmother was born there in 1903. Beth wanted to see the town and surrounding area.
There was a big backup on the highway, so we took a side road and stopped for lunch at a Wing House.

We made our way to downtown Orillia and drove around a bit. Beth mailed a card at the post office.

Next, we made our way to our hotel. As we entered the parking lot, Beth noticed her Check Engine light was on intermittently. I read the diagnostic code, erased it, and started the bike. The code came back, so it was definitely something we needed to attend to.
Saturday
The nearest Harley dealer was about 30 miles away in Barrie, ON. We got there by the time they opened and checked in at the service desk.

The service writers started right in diagnosing the problem. We figured it would take them a few hours to fix the problem, so we settled into the couch in the customer lounge area. The dealership was having a cookout, so we had hamburgers for lunch.
The problem turned out to be a broken wire to the right radiator fan. It was an easy fix, once they found the break.
We rode to downtown Barrie.

Eventually found some on-street, free parking. Often people of all ages will step up and start a conversation. They admire our bikes and our spirit of adventure. Everyone is surprised to learn we rode all the way from Florida.

They were having a street fair, so we walked up and down the street checking out the wares.

We stopped in at the Flying Monkey for a beer and a pretzel.

Afterward we walked down to the park by the lake.

We admired the rainbow crosswalk.

We finished the day at our hotel.

For the last several days my GPS has been blinking off and on repeatedly. We swapped our units and the problem persisted with my GPS on Beth’s bike, so that confirmed the problem was not with the wiring. A search on Google suggested investigating all the wiring issues and then, it the wiring is good, doing a factory reset. I backed up my unit and did the reset.
Sunday
On our trip south to Chautauqua, NY, my GPS seemed to be cured by the factory reset.
Before crossing the border, we stopped at Tim Horton’s one more time for coffee and timbits.

The wait at the border was not too long.

We stopped at a rest area north of Buffalo.

We had our picnic lunch indoors in air conditioned comfort.

We had an easy time riding through Buffalo and made it to our friends’ lake house mid-afternoon.

Monday
We are just chilling at the lake while I plan the next phase of our trip, tend to HOA stuff, and write this episode of the blog.

What an Awesome trip you planned this year. Luv your pictures, lots of smiles and life it good for YOU folks.
